Chapter 18: The Whisper of the River

Eun-seo woke up early, before dawn, and walked along the riverbank, thinking about Kang Min-jun’s pottery work. As she watched the river’s waves reflecting the morning sun, she thought about how she wanted to understand Kang Min-jun’s heart by looking at his pottery again. When she arrived at his studio, she saw him working on his pottery. His hands moved as if the clay were alive, like water. Every time his fingers touched the clay, Eun-seo felt a thrill at the delicacy of his movements.

As soon as she entered the studio, she was surrounded by the dense scent of pottery and the sound of the river, and she felt herself being drawn into Kang Min-jun’s world. When Kang Min-jun saw Eun-seo, he paused for a moment, then approached her. “The pottery fragments I threw into the river yesterday symbolize my heart, which I hope you’ll understand,” he said, his voice low but his eyes expressing his emotions like the sound of the river. His words made Eun-seo’s heart beat faster. The morning sunlight streaming through the studio window reflected off his pottery, illuminating his heart.

Kang Min-jun’s studio was filled with the sweet scent of pottery and the gentle sound of the river. Eun-seo felt as though she had entered a different world, one where time stood still. The sound of the river and the smell of the pottery seemed to be in harmony, creating a sense of peace and tranquility. As she watched Kang Min-jun work, she felt her heart beating faster, as if it was trying to keep pace with the rhythm of the river.

Eun-seo asked Kang Min-jun, “Why did you throw the pottery fragments into the river?” Kang Min-jun thought for a moment before answering, “I wanted to express my heart, to make you understand me.” His voice was low, but his eyes spoke volumes, conveying his emotions like the river’s song. The sunlight streaming through the window reflected off his pottery, illuminating his heart.

Kang Min-jun continued to work on his pottery, his hands moving with the same delicacy as before. Eun-seo watched, mesmerized, as he shaped the clay into beautiful forms. With each piece he created, she felt as though she was gaining a deeper understanding of his heart. The sound of the river and the smell of the pottery seemed to be drawing her closer to him, into his world.

As the morning wore on, Eun-seo found herself becoming more and more entranced by Kang Min-jun’s pottery. She felt as though she was seeing into his very soul, understanding the depths of his emotions. The river’s song seemed to be echoing her own heartbeat, and she knew that she was falling deeper and deeper under Kang Min-jun’s spell.

Kang Min-jun looked up at her, his eyes locking onto hers. “I want you to understand me,” he said, his voice barely above a whisper. “If you can understand me, I have something to tell you.” Eun-seo’s heart skipped a beat as she met his gaze, feeling the weight of his emotions like a gentle breeze on a summer’s day.

And so, Eun-seo asked him again, “What is it that you want to tell me?” Kang Min-jun’s eyes seemed to cloud over, his thoughts hidden behind a veil of secrecy. But Eun-seo knew that she had to keep asking, to keep pushing him to reveal his true feelings. For she knew that the truth was hidden in his pottery, in the delicate curves and lines that seemed to dance in the sunlight.

The sound of the river grew louder, as if it was urging Eun-seo to keep asking, to keep seeking the truth. And so she did, her voice barely above a whisper. “What is it that you want to tell me?” Kang Min-jun’s eyes locked onto hers, and for a moment, they just stared at each other, the only sound the gentle lapping of the river against the shore.
