# Chapter 171: A Promise in the River’s Flow

Eun-seo walked along the riverbank, her eyes fixed on Min-jun’s gaze. His eyes were deep and dark—like the river itself, holding some unspoken message she couldn’t quite decipher. She felt the warmth of his hand in hers, and his heartbeat seemed to echo with the river’s gentle current. Min-jun gazed calmly at the water ahead, their hands moving in perfect synchrony. They walked together through the dawn air, their footsteps dissolving into the river’s flow, leaving behind only the sound of two people and the water—as if they were each other’s only truth in the world.

Eun-seo studied his face, feeling the steady rhythm of his heart. It blended with the river’s song, and warmth bloomed in her chest—as though his heartbeat had become part of the water itself. Still holding his hand, she searched his eyes once more. They remained deep, unfathomable, yet somehow speaking directly to her soul.

“Min-jun, why do you make pottery?” she asked softly. Her voice was barely louder than the river, yet he heard her. She saw his eyes flicker slightly, as if he were turning something over in his mind.

“I love it,” he said quietly. His voice carried the weight of the water around them. “I love putting something into it—something that matters. That’s what pottery means to me.”

Eun-seo understood. Or rather, she tried to. His words weren’t really about clay and fire. They were about something deeper—about her, perhaps. She had left Seoul because she couldn’t finish anything. The plagiarism scandal. The betrayal of a writer she’d trusted. Since then, nothing had felt complete. Nothing felt safe to believe in.

“What is it? What do you put into your work?” she pressed gently.

“That’s… something I can’t say yet,” Min-jun replied, his voice low and steady. His words held a tenderness that made her chest ache. She understood him—or at least, she was beginning to.

Eun-seo held his hand tighter, meeting his gaze once more. The river sang around them, birds calling out their dawn chorus. The world outside their small circle seemed to fall away. There was only the sound of their footsteps and the water, only the two of them moving as one.

They continued walking, and Eun-seo felt his warmth seeping into her. His heartbeat synchronized with the river’s rhythm, filling her with a sensation she’d thought lost forever. When she finally spoke, her voice trembled.

“You care about me, don’t you?”

Min-jun smiled, his eyes reflecting something tender and true. “Of course. You’re everything to me.”

The words hung in the dawn air like a vow.

“I care about you too,” she whispered. “More than I thought possible.”

“Then I’ll love you forever,” he said simply. “As long as you let me.”

“How long will we keep walking?” Eun-seo asked, glancing up at him.

“As long as you want,” Min-jun replied without hesitation. “As long as you’re here, I’m not going anywhere.”

They walked on, their steps falling in rhythm with the river’s eternal song. The dawn grew lighter, painting the sky in shades of gold and rose, but they didn’t stop. In this moment, suspended between night and day, they existed in a world made only for them.

“My heart belongs to you,” Eun-seo said finally. “Forever.”

“And I’ll love you forever,” Min-jun answered. “Because you’re my everything.”

Within Eun-seo’s heart, gratitude bloomed. She knew he would love her—truly, completely, eternally. And she would hold his love close, keep it safe, treasure it always.

Within Min-jun’s heart, the same gratitude stirred. He knew she would love him, and he would spend his life honoring that love, protecting it, nurturing it into something unbreakable.

They walked on together, two souls moving as one, their promise sealed not in words alone but in the beating of their hearts, in the warmth of their hands, in the river’s eternal flow.

Where the river bends, they would always find each other.
