Chapter 145: Beneath the Shadow
Minjun left Lee Sujin’s office, her words etched deep into his mind. “An actor must be able to separate the stage from everyday life. But you—you’re blurring the lines. You’re losing yourself inside the role.” The warning unsettled him, forcing him to confront a question he’d been avoiding: what was he losing?
His masks, his characters, his emotions—all of it had become a tangled mess. He needed to untangle it, to find himself again beneath the layers he’d constructed. But where did one even begin?
He stepped out into the night air, lost in thought. The city’s ambient noise surrounded him, and his footsteps echoed loudly against the pavement. He caught sight of his shadow stretching across the ground, following him like an unwanted companion.
Minjun checked his phone again. Nothing. He wanted to hear Junho’s voice again, but his screen remained dark and silent. He shoved his hands into his pockets and stared at the city lights scattered across the skyline, searching for answers in the darkness.
His feet moved on their own, carrying him toward a familiar building. He stood before it, paralyzed by indecision. What did he want? What should he do? He had to face his emotions head-on, had to reclaim his identity—but the path forward remained shrouded in shadow.
He needed to find himself. Not the actor, not the character, but the man beneath. He needed to learn to trust himself, to love himself, to understand himself.
Standing beneath the city’s glow, Minjun wrestled with the fundamental question that had haunted him for so long: Who was he, really?
