Winter break: Woojin performs the monologue alone, in the living room, for the first time. His sixth birthday brings Jungja’s longest truth. And in May, a school recitation showcase reveals something to Sooa that she has known for a long time.
September: Woojin starts primary school. Thirty-one classmates, one gap to manage, new scales of performance. In October, Kim Sunjung sits across from him at lunch. In November, Sooa goes to the theater alone for the first time in five years.
Woojin turns five and learns why his mother stopped acting. He reads Minhyuk’s new script in secret and memorizes the monologue. And on the last day of Mangwon Nuri, with a walking cake on the table, his father asks: what’s next?
The review appears. Dongshik finds a permanent space. And Yeeun leaves—but first, Woojin directs their last play together, giving her the only gift a four-year-old actor can give.
At four, Woojin discovers something alone in the apartment: performing to no audience. The Barefoot Company moves to a black box. And in the corridor afterward, Woojin tells his father what he found.
Yeeun casts Woojin as herself and teaches him forty seconds of not-watching. Dongshik’s October production delivers the line that breaks through. And on her last day, Bae Jiyun asks what Woojin will do when he grows up.
