# Chapter 88: A Promise Beneath the Sky

Eun-seo stepped out of Min-jun’s house and looked up at the sky. The dawn air still clung to her skin, cool and fresh. She felt how the time spent with Min-jun had lifted something heavy from her heart. His touch, his kiss—they had warmed her in ways she couldn’t quite name. She turned back to glance at his home one last time, and his smile bloomed in her memory, clearing the fog from her mind.

She walked along the riverbank. The sound of the water and the light breaking across the sky brought her peace. His words echoed in her thoughts: “Eun-seo, I’ll always remember you.” His voice had steadied something in her chest. She believed him. More than that—she felt understood by him in a way that mattered.

She left the river path and headed toward the village. The streets were still quiet, wrapped in that gentle silence of early morning. She passed the traditional market and found herself face-to-face with Aunt Bo-bok-soon. The older woman took one look at her and smiled knowingly. “Eun-seo, what’s happened with you?” she asked warmly.

Eun-seo heard the question and felt something settle inside her. In that moment, she understood the truth—Min-jun mattered to her. He truly did. She would not forget him.

She spoke to Aunt Bo-bok-soon with quiet certainty. “Auntie, I’ve realized something. Min-jun is someone important to me. I won’t forget him.” The older woman’s smile deepened. “Then I hope you’ll be happy, child. He’s a good person.” Those words confirmed what Eun-seo already knew. She would treasure every moment with him.

She made her way back through the village and to his door. Her hand trembled slightly as she knocked softly. “Eun-seo?” His voice came through, surprised and hopeful. When he opened the door, sleep still clung to his eyes, but they cleared the moment he saw her—eyes that seemed to understand her without words.

She stepped inside and took his hand. It was warm, and that warmth steadied her completely. Min-jun held her gaze, his hand gentle but firm in hers. In his eyes, she saw recognition—the kind that comes from truly knowing another person. She knew then, with absolute certainty, that he mattered. That she would not forget.

They moved toward each other, and their lips met. In that kiss, there was understanding—a silent conversation between two hearts that had found something real. As she kissed him, Eun-seo felt the last of her doubts dissolve. She was important to him. He was important to her. And she would cherish every moment they had together, for as long as the river bent through this small village, for as long as the sky stretched above them both.
