Chapter 15: The Memory of Water

Eun-seo woke up early to greet the morning. As she listened to the birds singing outside her window, she couldn’t help but think of the ceramic shards that Kang Min-joon had thrown into the river the day before. His movements had been mechanical, and she hadn’t been able to sense any emotions from him as the water splashed against the shore with each piece he tossed in. The scene still lingered in her mind, and she decided to visit the river again to listen to the sound of the water and try to understand Min-joon’s heart.

When Eun-seo arrived at the river, she saw the sunlight reflecting off the rippling water. As she listened to the sound of the river, she remembered the ceramic shards Min-joon had thrown in, and the way the water had splashed against the shore. The river’s flow seemed to be revealing Min-joon’s inner world, and Eun-seo felt like she could sense his emotions by listening to the water’s melody.

As she gazed out at the river, Eun-seo noticed something else caught in the water’s edge. It wasn’t one of Min-joon’s ceramic shards, but a small piece of paper. She plucked it out of the water and saw that it had a message scrawled on it: “I hope you can understand me. – Min-joon” Eun-seo’s heart skipped a beat as she read the words, and she felt a pang of longing to understand Min-joon’s heart.

Eun-seo followed the river’s bend to Min-joon’s workshop, hoping to find some clues about his emotions. When she arrived, she saw Min-joon working on a new ceramic piece, his hands moving deftly as he shaped the clay. His movements were a far cry from the mechanical gestures she had witnessed the day before, and Eun-seo felt like she could sense his passion and dedication to his craft.

Min-joon looked up and caught Eun-seo’s eye, his expression softening as he approached her. “The ceramic shards I threw into the river yesterday were a symbol of my heart, hoping you could understand me,” he said, his voice low and gentle. Eun-seo listened, entranced, as Min-joon’s eyes seemed to convey a deep emotion, like the river’s melody was speaking directly to her soul.

Eun-seo watched, mesmerized, as Min-joon worked on his ceramic piece, the river’s sound weaving in and out of her consciousness. The flow of the water seemed to be revealing Min-joon’s inner world, and she felt like she could sense his emotions by listening to the melody. Min-joon’s hands moved with a life of their own, as if the clay was an extension of his being, and Eun-seo felt like she was glimpsing his very soul.

“I hope you can understand me,” Min-joon said, his voice barely above a whisper. “If you can, I have something I want to tell you.” Eun-seo’s heart skipped a beat as she met his gaze, the river’s sound swirling around her like a vortex, drawing her deeper into the mystery of Min-joon’s heart.
